TravelStory relies on a handful of outside services and open-source projects. In the spirit of How We Build, here's exactly what we depend on, and what it's for.
Services we rely on
Companies whose infrastructure a feature of ours directly depends on.
Identity & age verification
Age assurance and identity checks are carried out by Didit, an independent verification provider - see How We Build for what that means for your documents.
Billing & payments
Subscription billing is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details ourselves.
Bot protection
Sign-up and login are protected by Cloudflare's Turnstile, a privacy-preserving alternative to CAPTCHA.
Mobile app platform
The iOS app is built on Expo, and push notifications are delivered through Expo's push service.
Open source
Map data, tiles & geocoding
Journey maps use OpenStreetMap tile data, and place names are resolved via OpenStreetMap's Nominatim geocoder.
Data © OpenStreetMap contributors, Open Database Licence (ODbL)
Map rendering
Interactive journey and place maps are built on the open-source Leaflet library.
BSD-2-Clause
3D vehicle models
Vehicle profile pages render 3D models using Google's open-source model-viewer web component.
